We are proud to announce that we will be using a new machine, Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry, for defining different measurable aspects of porosive nature of materials. With this addition, the range of the analysis and equipment used by our laboratory for advanced testing of materials is further expanded.
Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry has been used for decades to measure the porosity and pore size distribution of cementitious material. It is a fast method that allows obtaining information about the structure of the pores. A mercury porosimetry can measure the pore diameter, which varies from 0.001 µm to 1000 µm depending on the pressure used to inject the mercury.
The machine was procured within the project “Advanced low CO2 cementious materials (ACT)“, financed by the Croatian Science Foundation and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
